Web Design & Development An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a successful, friendly and supportive teaching team within Wakefield College.

Web Design & Development As a Lecturer in Digital Industries, you will help teach across a range of Further Education courses in the ‘Digital’ provision. The role will deliver and lead on web design and development content in particular, so experience and confidence in this discipline is essential. You will pass on your experience, knowledge and skills to our students in order to help support them in improving their own skills and attributes that can lead to successful employment or further study.

As a Lecturer in Digital Industries – Web Design and Development, you should:

  • Have a degree in a relevant subject area
  • Hold GCSE A* – C / 9 – 4 in Maths and English qualifications or equivalent

Web Design & Development  You should also be able to demonstrate:

  • An up-to-date knowledge of web design and development practice including relating coding languages (HTML, CSS), UX design and web project management. Knowledge of .PHP and ‘App’ development would also be desirable.
  • An understanding of design aesthetic relating to web design including branding, layout, typography and content optimisation.
  • Confidence in helping to deliver an exciting curriculum for our students, both in the classroom and online.
  • The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing.
  • A willingness to help prepare our students for employment and future roles within the Computing and Digital sector.

This role would suit an experienced lecturer, but also an industry practitioner or recent graduate looking to establish a potential career in teaching.

If you are a good team player and have a comprehensive knowledge of your industry and would like to get into teaching, then this opportunity could be for you.

We are looking for people with excellent communication skills, drive and enthusiasm, qualified in their specific subject area and who would like to pass their knowledge and skills on to our students Web Design & Development.

If you have not previously worked within the Education sector but have considered a career move, you may be suitable for the Department of Education – Taking Teaching Further initiative, which employs industry specialists direct into Further Education. You will receive an enhanced support package whilst you gain a Teaching Qualification.

This opportunity can be discussed at the interview stage.
