Job description: Teachers are responsible for the instruction and facilitation of student learning with online courses. Instructors communicate course requirements, provide tutoring, grade student assignments with feedback, and augment courses in order to meet student remediation and enrichment needs, all of which create an exceptional student experience. Additional objectives may include completion of administrative tasks, and participation in professional development activities.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the facilitation and instruction of student online learning with online courses
  • Instruct and facilitate student learning via internet, communicate course requirements, grade student work and provide individualized feedback that solicits further engagement in the courses
  • Provide online tutoring and identify adjustments based on students’ needs
  • Augment courses in order to meet student remediation and enrichment needs
  • Interact with students in live chat sessions, or through personalized emails in order to answer academic questions and assist in course success
  • Use asynchronous and synchronous tools in order to aid student success
  • Answer incoming phone calls to assist parents and students with academic questions including progress reports, positive feedback, grades, and students concerns
  • Assist in the development of customized online courses

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have proper certification, as required by the State of Idaho, for position to which the teacher is assigned;
  • Meet Certification endorsement requirements;
  • Must be HQT in Subject Content Area; high school experience preferred
  • Seeking a positive person with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in the delivery and/or participation of online instructional programs is desired
  • Preferred but not required familiarity with virtual/online learning concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Must be able to communicate proficiently in English including both verbal and written communication with students and adults
  • Must possess proficient technology skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet browsers
  • Must have strong organizational skills, time management, and a high attention to detail
  • Must be willing and able to work from the District Service Center location

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and on the telephone;
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents;

  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 20 pounds, to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in an office environment.
