Job description: DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Coordinator, BCPS Online Learning Program, supervises the daily implementation of the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) Online Learning Program. Ensures that programs address and support the Superintendent’s Four Priority Areas (Academic Achievement, Highly Effective Teachers, Leaders and Staff, Safety and Climate, Infrastructure). Performs other duties as assigned.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Supervises the daily implementation of the online learning program.
  • Assists the coordinator in defining the program’s mission and communicating goals and expectations of the total program.
  • Provides instructional leadership in concert with the coordinator for the implementation of the curriculum of the Baltimore County Public Schools.
  • Assists the coordinator in leading the process of continuous program improvement.
  • Ensures appropriate implementation of the course offerings for the online learning program.
  • Works collaboratively with staff in the co-enrolled school on student programming.
  • Assists with the supervision and evaluation of online learning program teachers and staff.
  • Assesses the needs for professional development for online program teachers and recommends appropriate content and activities.
  • Works with BCPS Online Learning Program leadership to ensure the compliance of the program with state, federal, and BCPS regulations and policies.
  • Works with BCPS Online Learning Program staff to prepare and modify administrative forms, processes, and schedules.
  • Assists in communication with administrators, support staff, and families enrolled in the online learning program.
  • Assists and coordinates program discipline and maintains necessary discipline records. Serves as a liaison in coordinating supportive services and other social agencies to help meet student and family needs.
  • Maintains attendance procedures and ensures accountability.
  • Assists in determining and implementing school organization, student placement and evaluation, and services and programs that provide for the needs of the students.
  • Provides for changes in schedules and programs to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Monitors and assesses student achievement and student participation outcomes with appropriate data analysis and collection.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations regarding instructional materials and supplies.
  • Works with the Coordinator BCPS Online Learning Programs to provide effective communication and collaboration among staff and stakeholders.
  • Assists the Coordinator with the responsibility for the business management functions of local school finances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree.
  • Five years’ teaching or related experience.
  • Two years’ leadership/management experience in an education setting.

Licenses and Certificates:

  • Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate in an area appropriate to the assignment with an Administrator I endorsement.

OR

  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional License in an area appropriate to the assignment and Administrator I Licensure.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstration of strong knowledge of, and experience in online learning.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public education administration.
  • Knowledge, skills, and successful experience with the school improvement process.
  • Possession of technology competency (e.g. database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, digital tools, and related applications); skills and experience in data analysis and application
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to maintain current in, all areas of K-12 requirements and curriculum.
  • Skills and experience in data analysis and application.
  • Outstanding leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via escript/clearinghouse from your university.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Benefits and Retirement Orientation meeting.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
