Job description: Job Description Summary: Minimum starting salary $21.81 / hrThe Staff Accountant works directly with the Director of Accounting in areas concerning financial reporting and control functions of Ozark Center. They are responsible for all duties assigned to them involving general ledger accounting, payroll, and grant program administration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, analysis, preparation of financial statements, and tax preparation.The Staff Accountant provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance abuse and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. They demonstrate a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. They will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Director of Accounting.Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.
Work Experiences:
- Minimum of two years working in an accounting environment.
Responsibilities:
- General ledger analysis of accounts.
- Prepare journal entries monthly.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
- Prepare monthly budget/actual reports.
- Assist in payroll functions, including tax reporting.
- Cash account reconciliation
- Communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Proposing to the Accounting Director data-based fiscal year objectives in the accounting area and objectives on their own professional growth and development.
- Assists in responsibility for the maintenance of adequate and proper fiscal record keeping for those areas/accounts for which they are responsible, including payroll records.
- Preparing financial statements and analysis, including budget/actual and monthly variance reporting.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.
- Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
- Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours and deal with irate individuals.
- TB test upon hire.
Expected salary: $21.81 per hour
