Job description: Summary //The Staff Accountant plays a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of both The Front Climbing Club and Vertical Solutions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across accounting processes. This role includes responsibility for daily accounting functions, close processes, and financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial performance and drive efficiency, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a culture of financial accountability.Key Duties & Responsibilities //

  • Manage daily operations including accounts payable and receivables, month-end and year-end close, payroll, depreciations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Generate and issue invoices while maintaining accurate billing records and proper revenue classification.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls tailored to the unique needs of a start-up company.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and provide recommendations to optimize financial resources.
  • Prepare financial statements and tax filings in compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Analyze financial data, conduct audits, research discrepancies, and correct records to maintain integrity.
  • Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making identification of risks, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.
  • Monitor and respond to emails in shared accounting inboxes, ensuring timely cross-functional and vendor communication.
  • Plan and execute departmental projects and semester planning initiatives to meet strategic goals.

Requirements //

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven 2-3 year’s experience as an Accountant or Staff Accountant, preferably in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP).
  • 2+ years of QuickBooks Experience and strong MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and ownership.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for developing and implementing operational checklists to ensure consistency, efficiency, and organization.
  • Ability to work cross functionally to enhance the customer experience, recognizing that customer satisfaction is a company-wide effort.
  • Proven ability to prioritize customer needs while decision-making and problem-solving to ensure a positive experience.

Working Environment //The Staff Accountant operates in a dynamic, shared office environment at the SLC Gym alongside Leadership and Operations teams. The role requires frequent collaboration across departments and direct interaction with the CEO. It involves managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting. Attention to detail and adaptability are key to success in this position.

Expected salary: $55000 – 70000 per year
