Job description: Job Description:We are searching for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing journal entries, reviewing trial balances, and maintaining ledgers. This position offers a long term contract employment opportunity, where you will be involved in an array of financial and accounting tasks, including payroll and inventory management.Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries for assigned accounts according to the established schedule
  • Review trial balances to locate, identify, and rectify all input and accounting errors
  • Maintain center records, ledgers, and journals necessary for determining the center’s financial status
  • Transmit payroll hours and maintain all data affecting the payroll
  • Oversee the Student Government Association checking account and reports
  • Conduct analysis of various general ledger accounts by reviewing entries, compiling and comparing transactions, determining and resolving open items, and interpreting trends or deviations
  • Train Accounting Clerk in coding of accounts and inventory controls
  • Maintain inventory systems established by the Finance & Administration Director
  • Fill in for the Finance and Administration Director in their absence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
  • Proficiency in carrying out Bank Reconciliations
  • Demonstrated skills in managing the General Ledger
  • Capability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries
  • Experience in Month End Close procedures
  • Knowledge and practical use of NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Good organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills

Expected salary: $28.5 – 33 per hour
