Overview:The Senior Desktop Support Engineer provides advanced technical support and maintenance for end-users, ensuring that all desktop systems, hardware, and software run efficiently. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, managing high-priority incidents, and mentoring junior support staff. The Senior Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for implementing solutions to improve system performance and user experience, while also contributing to strategic IT projects. Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:Advanced Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues across various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to desktop hardware, peripherals, and applications.
  • Provide support for network connectivity issues and assist with network troubleshooting.

System Maintenance and Upgrades:

  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure systems are secure and up-to-date.
  • Oversee the deployment and configuration of new desktop hardware and software.

Incident and Problem Management:

  • Handle high-priority and escalated support tickets efficiently, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Identify recurring issues and work on root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.

User Support and Training:

  • Provide advanced support and training to end-users on desktop applications, hardware, and IT best practices.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation and knowledge base articles.

Mentorship and Leadership:

  • Mentor and train junior support staff, providing guidance and sharing expertise to enhance team performance.
  • Assist in the development of support processes, best practices, and documentation.

IT Projects and Initiatives:

  • Participate in IT projects such as system migrations, upgrades, and new technology implementations.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate desktop systems with broader IT infrastructure.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor security measures to protect desktop systems from vulnerabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Operating Systems: Expertise in Windows (various versions), macOS, and potentially Linux.
  • Hardware Knowledge: Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing desktop hardware components, including PCs, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Software Applications: Experience with common business applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, productivity tools) and familiarity with remote desktop tools.
  • Networking: Basic understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
  • Security: Knowledge of security best practices, including antivirus, firewalls, and encryption.
  • Scripting and Automation: Ability to use scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automating tasks and managing configurations.
  • Active Directory: Experience with user account management, group policies, and other AD-related tasks.
