Responsibilities

The Molecular Neurotherapeutics Laboratory directed by Drs. Ikezu studies molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying aging and neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia with a particular focus on neuroimmunology. We are interested in investigating the pathological function of small extracellular vesicles (EVs), which are known to transfer abnormal proteins as vehicles inside the brain. Our mission is to decipher the molecular machinery of EVs which could be a future therapeutic target of AD and frontotemporal dementia or aging process.

The Ikezu lab is engaged in multiple arrays of cutting-edge technologies including behavioral studies, adeno-associated virus gene delivery, fluorescence activated cell sorting, proteomics, RNA sequence, super resolution confocal microscopy. The successful candidate will perform daily laboratory activities, including iPSC cell culture, animal colony maintenance, histology, EV flow cytometry, and other general laboratory inventory work. The incumbent will also assist in brain sample cryosectioning, immunohistochemistry sample processing, data collection using confocal microscope and analysis using IMARIS software.

We are looking for a highly self-motivated and organized individual to join our team. The successful candidate will have a passion for science, an inquisitive mind, and a strong interest to learn and implement new knowledge. Basic laboratory, math, and computer skills as well as attention to detail are a must. Experience with animal work, molecular, cell biological and/or biochemical techniques is an advantage.
