Senior IT Technician at University of Sheffield

Full Time – 35hours

We have an exciting opportunity in the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) North West for someone with a passion for enterprise level IT Support looking to use their problem solving skills and customer facing support experience to make an impact on research in the manufacturing industry.  We specialise in carrying out world-leading research into advanced machining, manufacturing and materials, which is of practical use to industry. You will join the IT team in our large, expanding and diverse academic department, working across all parts of the AMRC Group and will further strengthen our strong international research profile and our reputation for novel research and manufacturing support.

This role offers you the opportunity to support and engage with engineering project staff across a wide range of disciplines by ensuring a smooth delivery of IT support and customer focused service.

In this varied and dynamic role, you will also be responsible for supporting the audio-visual equipment in our meeting rooms and boardroom facilities across the two main campuses in Rotherham plus a growing number of remote sites. Working within the IT team, the role will offer you an opportunity to engage with external visitors from manufacturing organisations to provide a support service that is both highly regarded and highly valued.

You will:

  • Educated to at least A Level standard (or equivalent qualifications/work experience).
  • Have experience of working in a fast-paced IT support team with multiple customer deadlines.
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Have a drive for problem solving.
  • Confident to work independently in accordance with our standard operating procedures
