Responsibilities
The Panday lab in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (also affiliated with the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center) at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow. Our Group studies molecular mechanism of genome integrity, synthetic lethality, chromatin dynamics associated with replication stress, and their role in carcinogenesis and cancer therapy by using cutting-edge methodologies. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about DNA repair and cancer biology fundamentals in a highly supportive environment. Mentorship of the candidate regarding facilitating training and collaborations with labs at the Mayo Clinic and beyond, applying for fellowships, grantsmanship, and promoting your transition to your long-term goals will be a priority! On-site training will also be provided to the successful applicant for unfamiliar techniques. A successful applicant will have enthusiasm for science, self-motivation, organization, good teamwork, and communication skills. Duties for this specific position will include both a research component and a lab support component. The successful candidate is expected to perform research by contributing to the design of experiments, data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, and mentoring junior researchers. Experience or training in gene cloning, protein biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology is preferred. For more information on the lab, please visit our lab website:

Education: Ph.D. in biochemistry, genetics, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
- Molecular and cellular biology-related techniques. Preference will give to the candidates who has experience in DNA repair and related field.
- Human/cancer cell and tissue culture, standard DNA, protein electrophoresis techniques, and microscopy

- Interact regularly with their faculty mentor and laboratory members to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results.
- Perform experiments as needed for the projects assigned.
- Attend and participate in academic activities such as lab meetings, journal clubs, and wider network meetings, including scientific meetings and retreats.
- Complete research projects by developing research tools, exploring and finding mechanisms in the direction of genome maintenance, chromatin plasticity in response to replication stress and DNA damage, synthetic lethality, and their role in cancer development and cancer therapy under the guidance of the faculty mentor.
- Properly record and interpret the results of their experiments in the laboratory notebook.
- Prepare publication-quality manuscripts (including figures and tables)
