Wei Liu, Ph.D. ‘s lab is looking for a postdoc research fellow to work on cutting edge application of physics/engineering/computer science to medical physics. Medical Physics is a highly interdisciplinary field to apply physics/engineering/computer science into medicine. Being a medical physicist is a well-paid and stable career in the US with a good balance of life and work. You will have a good sense of achievement as a medical physicist since what you do is directly saving the lives of cancer patients. Postdoctoral appointees will receive relevant training in medical physics to have the background necessary for successful research in this field. The successful candidate has a chance to enroll into the medical physicist residency programs in the US and then he/she will be eligible for American Board of Radiology (ABR) board examinations. If the candidate passes the ABR board examination, he/she will be ABR board certified and can practice the medical physics clinical service in the US.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
The position requires the candidate to have either medical imaging, or machine learning or artificial intelligence experience.
Good computer programming skills (such as C/C++ or Python) are required. Experience in high performance computing (such as CUDA or MPI) would be a plus. Experiences with medicine-relevant projects will be a plus but not strictly required.
However, the candidate must be willing to learn new concepts and technologies when needed to complete a project.
