Responsibilities

The Donor Care Unit (DCU) at Mayo Clinic Rochester was established in October 2023, in collaboration with our local Organ Procurement Organization, LifeSource. Donor Care Units are best practice in organ donation.

Partners with Mayo Clinic Rochester Donor Care Unit, Critical Care and Transplant leadership for vision and direction to coordinate and manage institutional expectations, patient interactions, customer relations and business agreements. Serves as the main contact for questions related to the program. Facilitates the review, analysis and negotiation of contracts, vendor and business associate agreements and other legal documents to support the program. Partners with our Organ Procurement Organization, LifeSource, to maintain a standard set of metrics and a dashboard to monitor Donor Care Unit outcome measures and quality improvement. Researches, analyzes, and explains the scope of services and requirements to key stakeholders. Assists in the development of negotiation strategies, identifies areas of risk, develops risk mitigation strategies, and provides recommendations to business, legal, and divisional decision makers. Develops extensive knowledge of services and operations both internally and externally to evaluate compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements and creates the policies, procedures, and processes to support them. Responsible for collaborating and working with finance to manage program expenses and respond to billing questions. Responsible for the oversight and management of contracted employees. Partners with leadership on innovation and research projects that will advance organ donation and transplant. This position communicates regularly with various levels of internal and external personnel, and is responsible for organizing, leading, and presenting at various meetings. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in business or a healthcare related field required with a minimum of five years relevant experience in healthcare. Exceptional customer service skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to develop strong working relationships is a priority for this position. Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities and projects and monitor details. Experience in working with contracts and regulatory requirements is preferred.
