  • Communicate with Plant Manager on quality, production, on-time delivery, and process improvement issues.
  • Work closely with maintenance personnel to maximize uptime of equipment on their shift.
  • Coordinate training, goal setting, and work schedules for the associates on their shift.
  • Organize shift personnel during emergency outages to reduce downtime
  • Assist OSB Board Production Manager in coordinating maintenance shutdown activities.
  • Monitor consumption of water, gas, and energy on a shift basis.
  • Prepare shift reports for distribution to the Production Manager of OSB.
  • Provide oversight of daily production and ensure production goals are attained.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to correct any safety hazards.

  • Ensure that production meets quality specifications
  • Work closely with lab technicians to ensure test results are communicated and deviations from standard are addressed in a timely manner
  • Review, edit, and approve time and attendance records for payroll purposes
  • Provide frequent, direct, and honest performance feedback including annual appraisals to direct reports
  • Communicate and consult with HR on all personnel related issues including staffing, disciplinary actions, and possible terminations
  • Establish timelines for performance improvement goals
  • Conduct disciplinary procedures in cooperation with department and HR management
  • Coordinate training, goal setting, and work schedules for the associates in the MDF Finishing area.
  • Assist in the hiring process to include interviewing, selection, and orientation of new associates.
  • Responsible for coordinating job coverage on all shifts and communicating to shift supervisors in the OSB Production area.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new associates on the assigned shift
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff and Department and EHS management to correct any safety hazards.
  • Responsible for managing spare parts inventory for the OSB Finishing area and for ordering parts as needed.
  • Communicate with Warehouse/Distribution management concerning delivery schedules, process flow, and quality.
  • All other duties as assigned by leader.
  • Serve as fill-in for OSB Board Production Manager

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficient use of Microsoft office suite of products
  • High school or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent listening skills
  • Complex problem solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all MDF manufacturing methods and equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of product quality standards and end uses
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Must have the qualities of stress tolerance, persistence, self control, integrity and flexibility
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
