Primary Purpose of DepartmentThe School of Professional Studies (SPS) reports to the division of Academic Affairs, under the leadership of the Associate Provost. The School of Professional Studies works collaboratively with departments, colleges, and academic support units to ensure integrated partnerships for enrollment growth, student success, and faculty effectiveness in teaching
Primary Purpose of PositionThis position is a highly versatile, technical role, dedicated to supporting the Course Production Team in developing and maintaining a multimedia strategy for the School of Professional Studies’ distance education course offerings, especially multimedia creation, equipment operation, software, and related technologies.The Online Multimedia Specialist will work as part of the Course Production Team reporting to the Director, Digital Learning Production, to independently create, produce, edit, and publish high-quality multimedia content for Charlotte’s academic and professional credit programs. This position will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio, video, lighting, and related production equipment necessary to complete multimedia projects.The Online Multimedia Specialist will be responsible for instructional support for faculty and staff using a variety of media and technology solutions, to include instructional applications, digital media technology, and other professional multimedia creation software and hardware.In concert with team staff and the Director, Digital Learning Production, this position should assist in establishing directives, goals, creative vision, and objectives of the work unit.Summary of Position ResponsibilitiesThe Online Multimedia Specialist position is a highly versatile technical role, dedicated to supporting the Course Production Team in developing and maintaining a multimedia strategy for the School of Professional Studies’ distance education course offerings, especially multimedia creation, equipment operation, software, and related multimedia technologies.The Online Multimedia Specialist will work as part of the Course Production Team reporting to the Director, Digital Learning, to independently create, produce, edit, and publish high-quality multimedia content for Charlotte’s academic and professional credit programs. Minimum Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment, of which one year is supervisory; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Media/Television Production, Communication Studies, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience in video/television production and/or distance education production preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills required
- Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure and tight deadlines
- Experience working in a university setting with senior administration and faculty is highly desirable
