Responsibilities

The MLT contributes to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients by the accurate performance and reporting of laboratory testing procedures on blood and body fluids. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient’s age-specific needs is required. Highly Preferred: experience in general and/or specialized Hematology and Coagulation testing, including (but not limited to) Peripheral blood slide review/differentials, Bone marrow differentials, Body Fluid differentials and/or Specialty Coagulation testing (Factors, Mixing studies, HIT and/or Platelet Aggregation).

Qualifications

Associate degree required. Recent graduate from approved MLT school is minimum experience required. 

Additional Skills and Qualifications: 

Two to four years experience as medical laboratory technician preferred. Evidence of computer skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and problem solving capabilities.

  • and for foreign trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicants expense.

  • MUST have a DETAILED equivalency evaluation
  • MUST show US equivalent degree
  • Evaluation MUST be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) www.aice-eval.org

License or Certification:

MLT from ASCP required within 18 months from date of hire.
