Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic is seeking an experienced attorney to join our legal team to provide employment law expertise for a world-class non-profit academic medical center and affiliated health care system. The attorney filling this position will be responsible for managing multiple client relationships with an understanding and willingness to meet clients’ business goals in a dynamic, team-based, multi-site corporate legal department. This includes providing expert advice and counsel to Human Resources, management, and physician leaders regarding employment matters, including complex investigations involving physician and allied health staff.
Core job responsibilities for this role will include:
Utilizing experience and expertise to advise on a variety of employment law issues, including one or more of the following practice areas: recruitment and hiring; personnel performance management, discipline, and separation issues; wage and hour; equity, inclusion, and diversity in the workplace; disability and leave issues; employee privacy; labor relations; credentialing, peer review, and medical staff bylaws; or government contracting;
Leading and working collaboratively within cross-functional teams to advise a variety of clients across Mayo Clinic on complex internal investigation matters;
Providing legal and strategic guidance to clients, including organizational leadership, on risk assessment and mitigation in support of Mayo Clinic’s strategic initiatives; and
Management of outside counsel in employment matters.
We are looking for a proactive, solution-oriented attorney who is comfortable leading and working within teams of attorneys and paraprofessionals, able to not only lead, but to develop and empower others. This position requires a committed but humble leader who will coordinate across the Mayo Clinic Legal Department to deliver exceptional legal services and clear, concise counsel.

Qualifications
This position requires completion of law school and, preferably, five or more years of employment law experience, including management of internal investigations and employment litigation. A strong academic background, as well as excellent communication and writing skills are required. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple client relationships and understand and help meet their clients’ needs and business goals. Candidates should have sound legal project management skills, the ability to effectively lead teams, service as a positive change agent, and delegate work in a fast paced, team-based environment within a dynamic organization.
This position requires a license to practice law in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, or Wisconsin or ability to waive in through corporate exceptions.
