We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic academic to make a key contribution to our academic provision through teaching and research. Leeds Beckett has a thriving Computer Science student culture, with hundreds of students actively engaged in studying across a suite of awards, including specialisms in Digital Forensics, Cyber Security and Data Science. In addition, we have a growing research capacity, with the Cybercrime and Security Innovation Centre providing a focus for our partnerships; including work with police forces.

Our courses aim to develop students with a range of practical forensics skills using both commercial and open source forensics tools; including recovery of data and digital evidence from a variety of digital media (HDD, mobile devices, networked), analysis of evidence, navigation of file systems and windows registry, applying forensics methodologies and case work; all in a forensically sound manner and to relevant legal, ethical and professional working practices. In addition to the technical side, we provide opportunities to prepare and present information in a variety of formats, including witness statements, presentations, written reports, and as an expert witness in a court scenario. We aim to enable students to put theory into practice, to develop hands-on skills and experience.

Our research activity is supported by the Cybercrime and Security Innovation Centre. The centre has been the focus for projects including our work with the West Yorkshire Police Digital Forensics unit. Staff in the department have a broad interest in Digital Forensics with a growing focus on mobile and IOT devices.

The successful candidate will typically possess a PhD in an appropriate subject (equivalent industrial experience may be considered), will be expected to contribute to research, to develop and deliver a curriculum that enthuses students and be involved in delivering activities to further engage our active student community.

You will join the academic team based at our Headingley Campus and contribute to the delivery of our growing undergraduate and postgraduate provision. There are extensive and excellent specialist facilities located in a setting that offers many additional amenities for our students and staff.

Closing date: Monday 18th October 2021 (Midnight) Please note that you will not be able to edit or submit a part-completed application form after the closing date.
