Responsibilities
As a Laboratory Assistant, you will perform tasks to assist Laboratory technical staff and laboratory leadership. You may have multiple functions such as:
- Clerical work
- Sample processing
- Laboratory testing
- Greet patients
- Recognize when further clarification is needed from clinical staff (e.g. providers and nursing staff) regarding laboratory orders and obtain required information to process laboratory specimens in a timely manner.
- Recognize the importance of proper patient identification and respect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Convey accurate laboratory test result information to providers and other clinical staff while ensuring that “read back” policies are adhered to at all times.

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered for this position.

Community Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (CLMP) employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor.
Internal applicants must include their 3 most recent performance appraisals.
Willingness to travel to other MCHS locations for assignments as needed.
Phlebotomy experience, preferred.
Experience working in a medical field, preferred.
Must be able to push a cart and walk distances
Moderate to advanced computer skills.
Possess good written and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.
Excellent customer service skills.

Compensation Detail
Required education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $24.26 per hour.

Shifts will primarily be 1030 AM to 7 PM and occasionally 1230 PM to 9 PM.
Weekend Schedule
