Data Job Summary:
The State of Georgia is seeking a qualified and experienced Data Governance/Security Analyst to join its team and support the successful operationalization of its enterprise data governance program. This role will focus on designing, creating, and enhancing policies, standards, procedures, and processes to support effective data governance throughout the organization. The ideal candidate for this position should possess substantial experience in data governance, including knowledge in privacy and cybersecurity aspects, and be able to implement governance frameworks that address both technical and organizational needs.
The candidate will work closely with key stakeholders to evaluate existing governance structures and contribute to the creation and refinement of new data governance policies, ensuring the alignment of policies with best practices, legal regulations, and organizational goals. A key responsibility will also involve the development of comprehensive and accessible documentation and communication tools to support training and education efforts across the enterprise.
Position Duties:
In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of data governance tasks, with a focus on the evaluation, creation, and ongoing improvement of data governance policies, procedures, and related documentation. Specifically, your duties will include:
- Evaluating Existing Policies: You will review and update existing enterprise da ta governance policies, guiding principles, standards, and procedures, ensuring they align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Creating New Policies: You will be tasked with the creation of new da ta governance policies, procedures, and documentation to enhance the organization’s overall governance framework. This will include addressing areas like privacy, security, and compliance.
- Operationalizing D ata Governance: You will work closely with internal stakeholders to help implement and operationalize d ata governance policies, ensuring smooth adoption and consistent application across departments and teams.
- Documentation and Communication: A significant part of your role will involve creating clear, comprehensive, and accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. This will include written policies, standards, and guidelines, as well as presentations and training materials.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: You will support the creation and delivery of training and knowledge-sharing sessions for both internal and external stakeholders. This will include creating resources to help teams understand and adopt da ta governance policies effectively.
- Collaboration: You will collaborate with various departments across the organization, including IT, compliance, and legal teams, to ensure that d ata governance policies reflect organizational priorities and regulatory standards.
Required Skills:
- Enterprise Da ta Governance: Proven experience in the creation of enterprise-level dat a governance policies, standards, and procedures, ideally within large and complex organizations.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring that da ta governance policies and procedures are accurate, well-documented, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Independent and Team Work: Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team. You must be comfortable taking initiative and adapting to change while ensuring that dat a governance objectives are met.
- Problem-Solving: You will be required to apply strong problem-solving skills, identifying challenges in the governance framework and proposing effective solutions.
- Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will need to tailor communications to diverse audiences ranging from technical teams to senior management. You should be able to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Building Relationships: A key aspect of this role is building relationships across departments, collaborating with various teams to ensure successful implementation and integration of data governance practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Higher Education Experience: Experience creating and implementing da ta governance policies within a higher education environment is a plus.
- Privacy and Cybersecurity Knowledge: Familiarity with the intersection of d ata governance, privacy, and cybersecurity, and understanding how to address these aspects in data governance policies.
- Technical Expertise: Experience working with dat a governance tools and frameworks, as well as an understanding of the regulatory landscape surrounding data privacy and security.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience in enterprise data governance, with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Experience creating clear and concise documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of developing and presenting training materials related to data governance.
Job Type: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60.00 – $64.11 per hour
Expected Hours: 40 hours per week
