Now Hiring – Assistant Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely and cooperatively with the proHNS Project Engineer and team assigned to publicly funded highway, bridge, marine, or aviation infrastructure projects. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a strong technical background, good communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Key Skills, Experience, and Responsibilities for Ideal Candidate:
Ability to support project engineers, inspectors, and technicians by preparing or reviewing project documentation, reports, and technical tasks.
Conduct daily site visits and inspections to monitor/track construction progress (quantity and assistant quality of the work).
Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards, building codes, and regulations.
Assist in coordination and communication between various stakeholders (clients, contractors, stakeholders, and the public).
Prepare and review change orders (CO’s), request for information (RFI’s), assistant request for proposals (RFP’s), and directives.
Review temporary traffic control plans for compliance with the MUTCD, and make sure the application in the field matches the approved plan.
Erosion and sediment control plan (SWPPP) review, compliance documentation preparation, and inspections.
Identify and resolve potential project issues, escalating to project engineers or project managers as needed.
Maintain detailed project records, including field notes (i.e. daily measurements), assistant action items, and change orders.
Fluency in the use of computers and programs, including MS Office Suites, MS Project, MS Teams, Blue Beam, Adobe, and AASHTOWare Project.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, though a formal education in engineering, construction management, or construction technologies is preferred but not required.
0-5 years of experience in construction management, contract administration, assistant inspection, materials testing, the construction trades, or a similar role.
Basic knowledge of contracting principles, construction processes, and/or industry best practices.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Assistant Project Engineer
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required for field assignments lasting up to 10 months over multiple seasons.
A proactive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
Three professional or personal references are required at the time of application.
Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and bend for excessive assistant time.
Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
Ability to withstand and be exposed to varying weather and terrain conditions.

Ability to work long hours and overtime, including nights, assistant weekends, or holidays when needed.

Compensation and Benefits:
Employees receive a competitive benefit package including access to our Medical Insurance plans with the employer paying 100% of the employee plan. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% contribution from the employer upon reaching enrollment requirements. The position will include paid time off and eight paid holidays. proHNS pays for expenses associated with business travel, licensure, training, and certifications. We offer annual performance bonuses and have done so every year since inception.
The wage range for this position is $30-$50 per regular hour, DOE. Overtime pay is eligible at 1.5x the regular wage rate for over 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
