This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, position description NGD0806000, within the NJ 177th MAINTENANCE SQ of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position.

SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER (TITLE 32)


Duties

As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-8852-12, you will:

Plans the overall allocation of personnel and other resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, and complexity, must be planned on a quarterly or longer basis.
Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines. Balances work load for subordinate work groups. Promotes economical and efficient work operations.
Spot checks work operations to assure production and quality standards are met.
Coordinates work operations with other organizations and functions.
Makes formal appraisal of supervisors’ work performance and reviews employee appraisals submitted by them.
Promotes and administers such programs as cost reduction, incentive awards, suggestions, and quality assurance. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed.
Assures that appropriate production reports and administrative records are maintained. Acts on personnel problems referred by subordinate supervisors.
Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
May be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state’s Air National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Must have 36 months of the following Specialized Experience:

Plan, direct, and organize multiple agency work assignments for lower grade personnel
Review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines
Supervise or the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts
