Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Status: Full Time
Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to daily financial activity and monthly and annual reporting of financial data for multiple companies. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements that conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities that include general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation.
Duties/Responsibilities of Accounting Manager
Anchorage, AK:
- Assist with month end closing and financial reporting to include GL analysis.
- Review and prepare monthly journal entries.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations.
- Supervises and oversees the accounts payable processing (approval, coding, input and payment of invoices).
- Supervises and oversees the accounts receivable processing (billing and collection).
- Performs analysis of financial information and advises operations managers and senior management.
- Assists Controller in preparing monthly analysis of variances between actual and budgeted results.
- Assists with inventory control.
- Maintains detailed fixed asset listing and related depreciation schedule.
- Maintains CWIP and project cost schedules under guidance of the Controller.
- Assists Controller with long-term debt schedules and processes debt service payments and debt compliance analysis.
- Assists the Controller with the completion of the annual financial statement audit.
- Supervises accounting staff of three and oversees daily processing of accounting information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Industry Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business with accounting emphasis is preferred.
- 5 or more years of accounting experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience in the construction industry and/or government contracting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite especially with Microsoft Excel.
- High degree of proficiency working with Deltek Costpoint.
- Working knowledge of accounting software to include: Accounts Payable, Billing and Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Job Costing, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, Long Term Debt, General Ledger and Financial Reporting functions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
