Job Description
Summary
This position is with the Bureau of Indian Education at Pine Ridge School. The Transitional Teacher (Elementary) serves as a classroom teacher for general education subjects in a lower elementary setting. This position is intended for individuals working toward full state certification through an approved alternative licensure program.

Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, duties may include:
- Developing yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans.
- Teaching general education subjects using various instructional techniques.
- Evaluating student performance using tests, assignments, and assessments.
- Maintaining classroom discipline and a positive learning environment.
- Supervising students throughout the school day to ensure safety and well-being.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement:
- Level 11: Bachelor’s Degree and enrolled in an approved Alternative Licensure Program in the state of South Dakota.
- Level 14: Master’s Degree and enrolled in the same.
Licensure Requirements:
- Enroll in a state-approved alternative licensure program within 90 days of hire.
- Obtain full state teacher certification within three (3) contract terms.
Other Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship
- Valid state driver’s license
- Successfully complete a background check
- Must not exceed three (3) contract terms under Transitional status
