About the Position:
This opportunity is designed to help current students and recent graduates build foundational experience in computer science within the Air Force. As a developmental Computer Scientist, you will apply theoretical principles and practical techniques to support software development, system evaluations, and research projects that contribute to mission success.


Who May Apply:

⚙️ Key Responsibilities:

At GS-07 Level:

  • Perform routine tasks and assist with more complex computer science assignments under guidance.
  • Use evaluation methods to support system development and acquisition.
  • Help identify and resolve system deficiencies.
  • Contribute to developing software tools and solutions used by senior scientists and teams.

At GS-09 Level:

  • Apply programming and modeling techniques to parts of larger studies or projects.
  • Conduct system evaluations to support research, development, or acquisition.
  • Assist senior specialists in research, testing, and implementation activities.
  • Develop and adapt software and technical solutions to meet project needs.

🏆 Qualifications:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, OR a bachelor’s degree with at least 30 semester hours in a mix of mathematics, statistics, and computer science (including at least 15 semester hours in math/statistics with calculus).
  • All coursework must be from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.95 on a 4.0 scale.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of computer science theories, methods, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with computer systems architecture and software organization.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve technical problems, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • May require an appropriate security clearance (up to Top Secret).
  • Must participate in direct deposit for pay.
