Position Duties
As a Computer Scientist, you may be responsible for the following:
- Leading or participating in the development and maintenance of software products that support weapon system fire control.
- Working on an Agile development team and coordinating with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, engineers, and stakeholders.
- Participating in Agile ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning/Review) and sponsor-level meetings.
- Designing and developing new applications or enhancing existing systems.
- Leading or contributing to software design and architecture activities.
- Applying modern coding standards and performing software security assessments (e.g., static code analysis, fuzz testing).
- Addressing cybersecurity throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Staying informed about new tools, techniques, and best practices.
- Mentoring junior team members (ND-04 level only).
Qualifications
ND-03 Pay Band (GS-05/08 Equivalent):
- One year of specialized experience at the ND-02 level in software development or testing OR
- A master’s degree or two years of graduate-level education in a related field OR
- A combination of education and experience
ND-04 Pay Band (GS-09/11 Equivalent):
- One year of specialized experience at the ND-03 level in designing, developing, testing, or sustaining software in support of system engineering projects.
All Applicants Must Meet Basic Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field that includes at least 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.

Conditions of Employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a security clearance.
- Subject to E-Verify and Selective Service (males born after 12/31/1959).
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- May require travel, including to remote or overseas locations.
- This position is covered by the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce requirements:
- ND-03: Role 621, Level Basic certification within 12 months.
- ND-04: Role 621, Level Intermediate certification within 12 months.
