Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing the financial aspects of our projects, from inception to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in quantity surveying, particularly within the fire protection or construction sector.
Responsibilities:
- Cost Management: Manage the cost control and budgeting for multiple fire protection projects across various sectors.
- Procurement: Oversee procurement activities, including preparing tender documents, conducting negotiations, and issuing contracts.
- Financial Reporting: Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring projects remain within budget.
- Contract Administration: Ensure compliance with all contract terms, variations, and agreements, and resolve any disputes or issues that may arise.
- Value Engineering: Assist in the design and planning stages to identify cost-effective solutions and improve project profitability.
- Client Interaction: Work closely with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to maintain strong relationships and ensure project milestones are met.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks, ensuring appropriate strategies are in place to mitigate financial exposure.
- Project Monitoring: Monitor project progress and costs, providing updates and advising on corrective actions when necessary.
- Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the fire protection, construction, or related industry.
- Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Professional qualification (e.g., RICS) is desirable.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of cost estimation, procurement, and financial management for construction or specialist service projects.
- Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with clients, contractors, and internal teams effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex financial situations and resolve disputes.
Desirable:
- Experience within the fire protection or sprinkler industry is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and construction contracts.
