Overview
The FAA is seeking a licensed physician to support the Office of Aerospace Medicine in managing regional medical programs that promote aviation safety. The incumbent will serve as a Supervisory Medical Officer with responsibilities that include airman medical certification, oversight of Aviation Medical Examiners, and the administration of medical programs for FAA employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary medical liaison between the Regional Flight Surgeon’s Office, Aviation Medical Examiners, and Air Traffic Organization leadership.
- Determine medical eligibility for air traffic controllers and safety-sensitive positions.
- Provide expert consultation on medical and health-related matters across the agency.
- Oversee the Aviation Medical Examiner Program and the OSHA program within the region.
- Manage regional medical operations in line with national objectives and ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Supervise and evaluate regional staff, approve leave, resolve personnel issues, and allocate resources to meet operational needs.
- Collaborate in the development of administrative and program goals.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited U.S. or recognized foreign institution.
- Current, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
- At least 1 year of supervised clinical training (e.g., internship or residency).
- Additional graduate training or equivalent experience:
- FV-L: 3 years of residency or equivalent
- FV-M: 5 years of residency or equivalent
