Summary: Electronics Engineer (0855 Series)
This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority for the 0855 Electronics Engineering series. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement across various pay bands (FV-G through FV-K). The duty location may be negotiable upon selection.

Duties
The selected individual will perform professional electronics engineering work involving:
- Application of physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles
- Focus on electronic circuits, systems, and electromagnetic/acoustical wave phenomena
- Functions such as communication, navigation, computation, sensing, control, and measurement
Work supports the National Airspace System (NAS) and includes:
- Engineering analysis and testing
- Developing technical reports
- Implementing and improving system requirements
- Reviewing and revising technical publications
Qualifications
Basic Education Requirement (mandatory for all pay bands):
A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; OR
A combination of education and experience that includes one of the following:
- Professional Engineering License (EIT, PE)
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- 60 semester hours of engineering/physical science courses
- Related degree (e.g., physics, computer science) + 1 year of professional engineering experience
Specialized Experience Requirements by Pay Band:
- FV-G: Basic education requirements only
- FV-H (GS-11/12 equivalent): 1 year of professional experience at FV-G level or Ph.D. or 3 years of graduate study
- Examples: data analysis, testing, technical support for NAS systems
- FV-I (GS-13 equivalent): 1 year of experience at FV-H level
- Examples: operational modifications, technical restoration of systems
- FV-J (GS-14 equivalent): 1 year of experience at FV-I level
- Examples: national-level engineering support, test plan development
- FV-K (GS-15 equivalent): 1 year of experience at FV-J level
- Examples: leading engineering operations, software project management, developing SOPs/policies
