Summary
This is a full-time civilian faculty position within the Department of Command, Leadership & Management (DCLM) at the U.S. Army War College (USAWC), School of Strategic Landpower, under Title 10 USC. The initial term appointment may last up to three years, with the first year serving as a trial period. Appointments may be extended in increments of one to five years. Academic rank and salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and academic achievements.

Primary Duties
- Teach and facilitate seminar-based instruction in the core USAWC courses:
- Defense Management: Focused on Department of Defense systems and processes for force generation and readiness.
- Strategic Leadership: Covers individual and organizational leadership in complex institutions.
- Develop and deliver elective courses on Defense Management and its applications in supporting DoD missions.
- Contribute to faculty development programs and assist in curriculum planning and lesson design.
- Support specialized education tracks in strategic leadership or defense management tailored for advanced professional development.
Position Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance
- Pre-employment and random drug testing
- Up to 5% business travel (TDY)
- One-year trial period for new term appointments
Qualifications
Basic Requirement (one of the following):
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in behavioral or social sciences, or related field
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in the field
- Four years of relevant experience equivalent to a major in the field
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Expertise in management systems (government or business), especially those applicable to DoD.
- Demonstrated excellence in graduate-level or senior executive education, including curriculum design and instruction.
- Experience or potential for scholarly research and publication in relevant fields.
- Ability to design, prepare, and deliver both core and elective instruction.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., PhD, DBA) preferred—fields may include strategy, leadership, AI, business, STEM, decision or data science.
