Location: Pompey’s Pillar National Monument, Billings Field Office, Eastern Montana/Dakotas District

Employment Type: Permanent Career-Seasonal (6–12 months of work per year based on workload and funding)

Primary Duties
- Perform general maintenance and repairs on park buildings, facilities, and equipment.
- Assist with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and basic carpentry work.
- Operate hand and power tools for landscaping and grounds maintenance, including snow removal.
- Maintain a supply warehouse, inventory, and restock supplies (e.g., fuel, water, paper goods).
- Support heavy equipment operators on-site projects.
Job Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) — required before appointment and must be maintained.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug testing.
- One-year probationary period for new federal employees.
- Ability to complete required training to operate equipment and maintain public water systems.
- BLM uniform required (uniform allowance provided).
- May require overnight travel and government travel card use.
Qualifications
- No specific training or education required; however, your resume must demonstrate:
- Ability to perform building and facility maintenance without supervision.
- Experience with tools, equipment, and inventory systems.
- Skill operating vehicles and equipment used in maintenance and construction work.
Selective Factor: Possession of a valid Class A CDL is required.
Work Conditions
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, wind, etc.).
- Physically demanding — must lift up to 100 lbs., hike on uneven terrain, and work in confined spaces.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required when operating tools and handling chemicals.
