Summary: Information Technology Specialist (Client/Network Services)
Pay Grades: GS-09 / GS-11

Overview of Duties:
GS-09 Responsibilities:
- Administer both classified and unclassified LAN systems
- Monitor network functionality and address hardware/software issues
- Troubleshoot client systems and ensure operational standards are met
- Evaluate and install workstations, peripherals, and network equipment
- Support voice and wireless communications systems
- Perform real-time IT systems monitoring and problem resolution
- Provide user support, training, and technical assistance
GS-11 Responsibilities:
- Manage the base LAN, including classified/unclassified environments
- Develop network operating procedures and coordinate installations
- Conduct performance analysis and optimize network infrastructure
- Analyze system needs, plan for tech integration, and recommend upgrades
- Serve as a network security administrator and ensure cybersecurity compliance
- Maintain and improve network services for a wide user base

Conditions of Employment:
- Must be a current or eligible member of the Alaska Air National Guard
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- Subject to background check and potential probationary period
- Military Grade Range: SrA (E-4) to TSgt (E-6)
- May be required to work irregular hours and overtime
- Must comply with the Lautenberg Amendment (Domestic Violence Convictions)
Highly Desired:
- IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+)
Qualification Requirements:
General IT Competencies Required:
- Attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving skills
GS-09:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 OR a master’s degree or 2 years of relevant graduate education
- Experience should include resolving network issues, configuring client systems, and supporting IT infrastructure
GS-11:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 OR a Ph.D. or 3 years of relevant graduate education
- Experience should include LAN/WAN management, network security, and planning for IT system integration

Additional Information:
- This is an “open until filled” position, with application review every 30 days until filled
- Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) is 1.69% in addition to base salary (subject to change)

- Indefinite technicians may be converted to permanent without further competition but are subject to a 30-day separation notice if funding ends
