Location: Department of the Navy
Work Role: IT Specialist (INFOSEC) – DCWF Role 722 (Intermediate Proficiency Level)

Position Duties
As a Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:
- Recommend cybersecurity methods tailored to the needs of specific programs and external partners.
- Advise on cybersecurity requirements for proposed IT acquisitions.
- Monitor and assess cybersecurity programs to ensure IT systems are secure and compliant.
- Provide expert analysis to balance system security with user accessibility.
- Guide system design based on cybersecurity policy updates and security patch implementation.
- Apply knowledge of Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG).
Conditions of Employment
Applicants must meet the following:
- Be a U.S. Citizen.
- Be suitable for federal employment.
- Enroll in the Direct Deposit program.
- Pass E-Verify employment verification.
- Register with Selective Service (if male and born after 12/31/1959).
- Obtain required security clearance (interim and/or final).
- Pass a pre-employment drug test (including for marijuana); subject to random testing.
- Travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations may be required, including remote sites.
- Obtain and maintain DoD 8570 or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
- Be able to qualify and maintain credentials as required by DoDM 8140.03 within prescribed timelines.
- Participate in at least 20 hours of cybersecurity-related professional development annually.
Qualifications
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DS-04 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent. This includes:
- Evaluating and improving cybersecurity measures to optimize IT security.
- Developing and managing cybersecurity programs that align with acquisition timelines.
- Advising on implementation of new or revised cybersecurity policies.
- Leading IAVM (e.g., IAVA, IAVB) implementation to counter security threats.
- Applying standards such as JSIG to secure sensitive systems.

- No specific education requirement applies for this position.
Additional Notes
- This position is subject to the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF).
- If selected, qualifications must be obtained within designated timeframes and maintained as per DoDM 8140.03.
- This position is covered under the DoD Priority Placement Program.
- Veteran’s preference does not apply under this hiring authority, but documentation will be required if claimed.
