Overview:

As part of the Civil Works Design Branch, you’ll contribute to complex water resource projects that have direct impacts on public safety, environmental stewardship, and infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage engineering aspects of large, multidisciplinary water resources projects.
- Develop scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing strategies for engineering tasks and contracts.
- Ensure technical quality through adherence to civil works review policies and quality control processes.
- Serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for Architect-Engineer (A-E) and technical service contracts.
- Collaborate with project managers, resolve project conflicts, and mitigate risks across project lifecycles (feasibility, design, construction, and operations).
Basic Qualifications:
For Engineers (0810/Civil, 0830/Mechanical, 0850/Electrical):
- Bachelor’s or higher in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have passed the FE/EIT exam or hold a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
For Landscape Architects (0807):
- Bachelor’s or higher in Landscape Architecture or qualifying combination of education and supervised experience.
Specialized Experience (GS-13 level):
One year of specialized professional experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service, including:
- Developing engineering studies, designs, and specifications for civil works water resource projects, and
- Applying technical knowledge to produce contract-ready documents and resolve complex engineering issues.
Note: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this level.
Selective Placement Factor:
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license is required for engineering positions.
Additional Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Valid state driver’s license
- Completion of background investigation
- Annual submission of Confidential Financial Disclosure (OGE-450)
Salary:
- GS-0807: $116,816 – $151,863/year
- GS-0810 / 0830 / 0850: $132,039 – $159,048/year
(Salary includes locality pay for Sacramento, CA)
