Summary:
You will work as an Engineer or Architect in the Public Works Department of the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic. This position is a full-time, temporary assignment based 100% on temporary duty (TDY) at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa, for up to one year. The role may be filled through a temporary promotion or reassignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical reviews and engineering studies across multiple disciplines such as architecture, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering to support design and construction projects.
- Represent the Facilities Engineering Acquisition Division as a technical expert in contract modifications and claims.
- Ensure all official contractor correspondence and submissions are properly documented in contract files.
- Oversee contractor safety programs to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for federal employment and able to obtain a secret security clearance.
- Must possess a professional engineering or architecture degree accredited by ABET or meet equivalent certification/licensure standards.
- Demonstrated specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level, including advanced engineering concepts, use of relevant computer software, and effective collaboration with government personnel, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (over 76%) and work long shifts in challenging conditions.
- Must maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license and comply with Department of Defense acquisition certification requirements.
