U.S. Pacific Fleet

Overview:

This is a temporary full-time engineering or architectural position with the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic, located at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa. The assignment is for up to one year and involves working on-site 100% of the time under challenging conditions.

Primary Duties:

  • Perform technical engineering and architectural reviews to support design, construction, and project management efforts.
  • Provide expert advice on contract modifications, claims, and contractor correspondence to ensure compliance and proper documentation.
  • Review and approve contractor safety programs and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate closely with contractors, government officials, and stakeholders to manage and execute public works projects efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship with eligibility for a secret security clearance.
  • Degree in engineering or architecture accredited by ABET or equivalent certification/licensure.
  • Experience at the GS-12 federal level or equivalent, demonstrating advanced technical knowledge and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under demanding environmental conditions, including high heat and humidity, with potential exposure to hazards.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work extended shifts.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to meet DoD acquisition certification requirements.

Work Environment:

  • Assignment is at Camp Lemonnier, a remote overseas base with limited facilities.
  • Housing may consist of shared containerized units or tents.
  • The position offers hazardous duty pay incentives and opportunities for professional growth.
