Summary
This is a Direct Hire Public Notice to collect applications for potential vacancies within the Information Technology Management Series (GS-2210). Positions may be permanent, term, or temporary, with a full-time work schedule. Applications received may or may not result in referral or selection.
This notice is open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the United States.
Key Duties
(Responsibilities vary by grade level and may increase with promotion)
- Enforce IT security protocols across the installation by applying INFOSEC/COMPUSEC policies and regulations.
- Ensure secure transmission of data over networks (LAN, WAN, internet).
- Manage the Communications Security (COMSEC) program, including the Cryptographic Access Program (CAP).
- Perform semi-annual reviews, inspections, and audits of COMSEC facilities and user accounts.
- Safeguard IT assets against unauthorized access, damage, or disclosure.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Selective Service registration (for males, see www.sss.gov).
- May require security clearance, drug testing, non-standard hours, overtime, or shift work.
- Current certifications must be maintained.
- Position may be eligible for PCS (Permanent Change of Station) and recruitment incentives.
Qualifications
You must meet the basic education requirement and specialized experience or a combination of experience and education, as outlined below:
Basic Requirements
A bachelor’s or graduate degree in:
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Information Systems/Technology
- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Operations Research
OR a degree with at least 24 semester hours in one or more of these fields.
Experience Requirements by Grade:
GS-09
- One year of specialized experience at GS-07 level
- Example: Minor system modifications, planning task sequences, and analyzing system interrelationships.
- OR a Master’s degree or equivalent graduate education.
GS-11
- One year of specialized experience at GS-09 level
- Example: Revising system components, coordinating with others, adapting guidance to specific projects.
- OR a Ph.D. or three years of graduate education.
GS-12 to GS-14
- Progressively responsible experience demonstrating:
- System integration and architecture
- Acquisition and accreditation
- Organization-wide IT planning and operations
- Leading and advising on major IT programs and policies
You must also demonstrate competencies in:
- Attention to Detail
- Customer Service
- Oral Communication
- Problem Solving
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
- Expertise in IT systems, software, databases, and storage technology.
- Ability to assess and advise on systems/applications and data security.
- Understanding of system planning and architecture development.
- Familiarity with technical equipment, software, and processes.
Education
- If using education to qualify, submit transcripts.
- Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- Education must be from an accredited institution.
