Your Purpose

The General Manager for Scotland is accountable for driving sustainable growth and profit across approximately 85 stores in the region. This role will focus on commercial leadership while also supporting the people agenda, fostering a culture of partnership.

The GM will be part of the Optics Retail Leadership Team and will provide day-to-day functional support for both the Audiology and Domiciliary business teams. Collaboration with the Retail Support Teams (RST) will be key to achieving a multi-category focus across the store partnership.

Your Role

  • Relationship Building: Establish open, respected relationships across all teams to align with the division’s agenda and priorities.
  • Talent Development: Work cross-functionally to develop a pipeline of future leaders through internal development and external recruitment efforts.
  • Culture Development: Foster a workplace culture that ensures Specsavers is recognized as a great place to work.
  • Performance Culture: Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the region by sharing best practices, tackling challenges, and leading through change.
  • Team Leadership: Lead an agile and talented team with a focus on development, succession planning, and matrix collaboration.
  • Divisional Strategy: Develop and execute a divisional plan that supports the organization’s strategic goals, driving growth, profit, and service excellence.
  • Annual Plan Delivery: Oversee the successful delivery of the annual plan initiatives, ensuring the achievement of sustainable change across the division.
  • Innovation & Project Management: Ensure innovation and projects are executed effectively, delivering on the first attempt.

What You’ll Bring

  • Extensive Commercial & Operational Experience: Proven track record of driving business performance and achieving commercial success.
  • Senior Leadership Expertise: Demonstrated success in large multi-site leadership roles, ideally within optics, audiology, or similar customer-facing industries.
  • Coaching & Facilitation Skills: Strong coaching abilities to foster team development and enhance performance.
  • Communication & Influence: A confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Relationship Building: Skilled at building strong, credible relationships across a diverse range of teams and stakeholders.
  • Presentation Skills: Excellent at delivering presentations to large audiences, ensuring clarity and engagement.
  • Commercial Acumen: Experience in managing budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities to enhance business performance.
