Position Overview:
This position offers motivated students and recent graduates an excellent opportunity to develop and expand their computer science skills through hands-on, real-world assignments. As a Computer Scientist in training, you will apply theoretical and practical computer science concepts to support system development, software solutions, and technical analyses for the Air Force.

⚙️ Key Duties:

GS-07 Level:

  • Perform routine computer science tasks and assist senior staff with more advanced assignments.
  • Apply evaluation and analysis methods to support system development and acquisition projects.
  • Participate in studies to identify and troubleshoot computer system deficiencies.
  • Assist in developing software tools and solutions under the guidance of higher-level computer scientists.

GS-09 Level:

  • Apply programming and algorithm techniques to parts of broader research or development projects.
  • Use system evaluation methods to assess performance and contribute to solutions.
  • Assist senior specialists with research, testing, implementation, and acquisition efforts.
  • Develop software tools and technical solutions to support teams, contractors, or customers.

🏆 Qualifications:

Education Requirement:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science OR a bachelor’s degree with at least 30 semester hours in a combination of math, statistics, and computer science, including at least 15 semester hours in math/statistics (must include differential and integral calculus).
  • All degrees and coursework must be from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.95 on a 4.0 scale.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of computer science theories, principles, and policies.
  • Knowledge of digital computer system architecture and systems software.
  • Ability to design, develop, and adapt scientific methods to solve computer-related problems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
