Position Title:
Test Lead Engineer/Scientist
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division
Strategic and Computing Systems Department
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead test planning and strategy development in a large-scale agile software development team.
- Design and execute automated and manual test cases across multiple testing levels (unit, system, integration, performance, security, etc.).
- Support and promote Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
- Track and report test metrics (e.g., defect rates, coverage, automation percentage).
- Evaluate and improve test traceability and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-3 pay band (GS-9 to GS-11) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes:
- Developing and executing software test plans and strategies.
- Using automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, Graphene).
- Working with test management tools (e.g., Jira, Jira X-Ray).
- Analyzing software quality metrics and improving testing efficiency.
Eligible Job Series (Interdisciplinary):
- Engineering: 0801, 0830, 0850, 0854, 0855
- Science/Analytics: 1301, 1515, 1520, 1550

Education Requirements:
You must meet specific education standards based on your occupational series. Accepted fields include:
- Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Physical Science
- Mathematics
- Operations Research
- Computer Science

- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Subject to E-Verify employment check
- May require CONUS/OCONUS travel
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service

- Pay Band: ND-4 (equivalent to GS-12/13)
- Location: Dahlgren, Virginia
- Part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project (STRL)
