Summary: Electrical Engineer – SUPSHIP Gulf Coast
This notice is to inform potential candidates about anticipated vacancies within the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), Gulf Coast. Primary Responsibilities:
- Resolve complex technical issues for shipboard electrical, control, communication, and navigation systems during construction or modernization efforts.
- Review contractor designs and ship construction plans to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Participate in engineering design conferences and collaborate with shipbuilders, program managers, and NAVSEA design authorities.
- Provide expert engineering consultation to ship forces and NAVSEA leadership.
- Evaluate contract change proposals and support system testing and inspections.
Travel & Clearance Requirements:
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, including to remote or isolated sites.
- A security clearance (interim and/or final) is required prior to appointment.
- Pre-appointment physical examination required.
Qualifications:
GS-13 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, focusing on resolving shipboard electrical or electronic systems issues.
GS-12 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, involving analysis and evaluation of shipboard electrical systems.
Basic Education Requirement:
A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent qualifications through FE/EIT/PE certification or related coursework and professional experience. See OPM Qualification Standards for detailed alternatives.
