Job Description:
Prestige Insurance Holdings is seeking a motivated and skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing complex data pipelines, utilizing T-SQL to provide critical business intelligence across the organization. You will work in close collaboration with the team, contributing to the data strategy and ensuring that data flows efficiently, accurately, and effectively within our systems.
The Role:
- Work Independently with an Inquisitive Mindset: Take full ownership of tasks and projects from inception to completion. Use your critical thinking skills and natural curiosity to approach complex data challenges, connecting various data sources, identifying key patterns, and proposing actionable insights. Your solutions will directly impact the business’s decision-making process.
- Adhere to Established Processes and Flows: You will be working within established workflows while also contributing to refining and improving data processes. Ensure that all processes align with the organization’s data governance and quality standards, maintaining the integrity and reliability of the information across the systems.
- Documentation and Version Control: Embrace the use of tools like Confluence for documentation and Bitbucket for code development and version control. All work must be well-documented, ensuring that it is easily accessible for team members, future reference, and troubleshooting. Maintain the highest standards of code quality and organization.
- Understand and Troubleshoot Complex Data Pipelines: Your expertise will be key in analyzing intricate data processes, identifying potential issues, and working quickly to resolve problems within the data pipelines. You’ll ensure that data integrity is maintained and that the systems remain consistent and accurate.
- Passion for Data and Supporting Senior Team Members: Bring your passion for working with data into every task. Support senior engineers by using your T-SQL skills to build data pipelines and assist with analysis tasks. In return, you will receive guidance and mentorship to enhance your own skills, especially within the realms of data engineering and T-SQL.
- Mentor and Guide Team Members: As a Data Engineer, you will be an integral part of the team, and mentoring colleagues will be a key aspect of your role. Share your expertise, offer advice, and provide support to help junior team members enhance their skills and grow professionally.
- Project Ownership and Communication: You will be given ownership of projects, taking responsibility for meeting deadlines, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and maintaining effective communication with team members and stakeholders. Regular updates, clear expectations, and transparent communication will be vital to your success in this role.
- Data Presentation and Manipulation: As part of your role, you’ll be expected to not only analyze data but also present it in a clear, understandable, and actionable format. Tailor your insights to meet the specific needs of stakeholders, ensuring that the data you present drives informed business decisions.
What You Need:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a Technical Subject: A relevant degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in a similar role, is essential.
- Strong Background in T-SQL Coding & Data Warehousing: You should be proficient in T-SQL, with a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, and have practical experience working with large datasets.
- ETL Skills: Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes is crucial. You will be responsible for ensuring data is transferred efficiently and accurately between systems.
- Excellent Accuracy Skills: The ability to accurately process, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data is key. You must have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that no errors compromise the quality of the information.
- Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Data engineering often involves resolving complex issues related to data flow, integration, and transformation. Strong problem-solving abilities will enable you to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot and resolve these issues.
