Position Overview
Join the U.S. Coast Guard’s Assistant Commandant for Acquisition (CG-9) as a Contract Specialist responsible for managing complex acquisition programs. You will lead contracting efforts for major systems, services, and supplies critical to mission support.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior contract specialist, managing cradle-to-grave contract activities.
- Develop acquisition strategies, source selection plans, and contract terms.
- Lead cost/price analysis and negotiation of contract modifications.
- Evaluate contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Represent the USCG at government and industry meetings and conferences.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in business-related fields (e.g., finance, law, contracting, management).
- At least 4 years of contracting experience, with 1 year at GS-12 level or equivalent, demonstrating expertise in acquisition planning, negotiation, cost analysis, and contract management.
- FAC-C (Professional) or DAWIA Level II/III certification required or must be obtained within 24 months of appointment.
Exceptions apply to individuals in GS-1102 roles at GS-13 or higher since January 1, 2000.
