Who May Apply:

About the Position:
As a Recreation Assistant (Performing Arts), you will support the daily operations of the Performing Arts Center by providing dance instruction to children, choreographing performances, and assisting with the production and technical aspects of shows and recitals. This role combines creative, technical, and administrative tasks to help deliver a high-quality performing arts program for the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach dance classes for children ages 6–18, including children with special needs.
  • Choreograph dance numbers for recitals, workshops, revues, and theater productions.
  • Assist with costumes, makeup, sets, props, and basic scenery construction.
  • Perform basic maintenance on equipment and keep records of inventory and supplies.
  • Support general administrative duties necessary for the daily operation of the Performing Arts Center.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or meet qualifying residency requirements.
  • Must successfully complete a background check and health screening (including required immunizations).
  • Direct deposit and a valid Social Security Number are required.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) months of experience participating in performing arts such as variety shows, bands, or plays.
  • Experience with set/scenery construction and participation in performances, workshops, or revues.

Highly Preferred:

  • Experience teaching and instructing dance to children ages 6–18, including children with special needs.
  • Experience choreographing for workshops, revues, recitals, or theater productions.
