Job Title: Data Analyst (SQL Reporting)
Location: North Syracuse, NY/Remote
Department: Business Intelligence
Reports to: Manager of Business Intelligence
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst with expertise in SQL to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to design, write, and maintain SQL queries and reports to extract, analyze, and present data to support business needs. You will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that reporting requirements are met, delivering accurate and actionable insights in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- SQL Reporting & Query Writing:
Write, update, and optimize SQL queries to extract data from relational databases for business reporting needs. Develop and maintain custom SQL reports based on specific business requirements. - Report Maintenance & Automation:
Regularly update and optimize existing SQL-based reports to ensure they are aligned with evolving business needs. Identify and implement opportunities for report automation to improve efficiency and accuracy. - Data Extraction & Analysis:
Extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets using SQL. Provide insights based on data analysis to support decision-making across different business functions.
- Data Quality & Validation:
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of the data being extracted through regular validation and troubleshooting of SQL queries. Perform data cleansing and ensure that reports reflect high-quality, error-free data. - Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Work closely with internal teams, including business analysts, product managers, and leadership, to understand reporting requirements. Translate business needs into technical specifications for report generation. - Performance Monitoring:
Monitor and optimize report performance, ensuring that SQL queries run efficiently, and reports are delivered on time. Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues as they arise.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- 2 or more years of working experience in a Data Analyst or similar role.
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst or SQL Developer, with a focus on writing and maintaining SQL reports.
- Strong proficiency in SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for querying, reporting, and data manipulation.
- Experience with report-writing tools and business intelligence (BI) platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
- Familiarity with database management systems, relational databases, and data warehousing concepts.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-technical and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to handle large datasets and optimize queries for performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced SQL concepts (e.g., joins, subqueries, stored procedures, functions).
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
- Understanding of data governance and security best practices.
- Experience in commercial real estate or a similar field
- Familiarity with Yardi Systems or similar property management software
