HR Adviser at Iceland We are seeking a talented HR Adviser to join our team at Deeside Head Office. This exciting opportunity is perfect for a professional with experience working in a fast-paced environment. A solid understanding of Absence Management, Wellbeing, and Family-Friendly policies is essential for this role.
HR Adviser Purpose of the Role
As an HR Adviser, you will deliver a professional, proactive, and expert telephone and written advisory service to managers at all levels across the Iceland business, specifically focusing on the absence and wellbeing management of our colleagues. Your role will be pivotal in guiding managers on both short-term and long-term absence, flexible working, wellbeing initiatives, and the implementation of family-friendly policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration with HR Team
Actively participate as a member of the HR team, liaising with stakeholders and fostering effective working relationships across the business. - Case Management
Manage a diverse portfolio of cases, prioritizing tasks based on case needs, deadlines, and timescales. - Employment Practice and Advice
Provide clear, concise, and legally compliant guidance to managers regarding Iceland’s HR policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensure best practices are maintained in the management of colleague wellbeing and absence. - Solution-Focused Support
Offer pragmatic, balanced solutions while considering legal and regulatory requirements. Coach managers on people management techniques, such as communication, decision-making, fairness, and consistency. - Document Preparation and Review
Prepare, review, and, where necessary, amend letters and documents before and after formal meetings. Provide feedback to managers as required. - Case Recording and Reporting
Ensure all case management details are accurately recorded in the Case Management System. Manage cases proactively and ensure accurate reflection in the personnel database. - Team Collaboration
Work closely with fellow HR Advisers to maintain consistency in approach and precedent application across cases. - Compliance and SLAs
Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and that all tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Address people-related issues effectively, offering guidance to line managers where needed. - Other Duties
Undertake additional reasonable duties as requested by the HR team.

Demonstrate adherence to all relevant processes and legislative requirements. - Risk Analysis
Ensure that potential risks are identified and managed appropriately. - SLA Compliance
Consistently meet or exceed SLAs. - Effective Case Management
Timely completion of case management tasks and documentation.

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, particularly under pressure. - Technology Proficiency
Comfortable using telephony systems and various technology platforms. - Coaching and Development
Ability to provide coaching to managers and support their development in people management. - Confidentiality
Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidentiality and trust in all dealings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Track Record in HR Case Management
Proven experience in managing a variety of HR cases and handling complex HR matters effectively. - Up-to-Date Employment Law Knowledge
A comprehensive understanding of UK employment law and its implications for employers. - Confident Communication
Skilled communicator with the ability to engage, coach, and collaborate with colleagues at all levels, even during challenging situations. - Stakeholder Partnership
Demonstrated experience in working in partnership with multiple stakeholders. - CIPD Qualification (Level 5 preferred)
Ideally CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience). - Pragmatic Problem Solving
Ability to apply a commercial and practical approach to HR risk-based solutions. - Flexible and Agile Working
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and feedback, working flexibly to meet deadlines. - Analytical Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
