Job description: Position Summary

Univision’s Corporate Communications team is seeking a VP, Corporate Communications to support media relations initiatives and issues management spanning corporate (SLT strategic announcements), finance, legal, advertising sales, local media sales, distribution and partnerships. This is a strategic role that will partner with key business leaders to align, plan and amplify business priorities via external messaging to reach key B2B audiences, including press, government and non-governmental organizations, as well as prepare for and manage potential crisis situations.

This role calls for a business centric professional with exceptionally strong strategic thinking and writing skills, who can create communications campaigns and messaging that results in impactful engagement by external audiences aligned to organizational priorities and serve as an external spokesperson for the company. The ideal candidate must have an entrepreneurial spirit combined with savvy business storytelling expertise as well as passion for getting things done. Must be able to work independently, escalate decisions promptly and identify both problems as well as solutions with minimal oversight.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support flagship communication projects to create impactful storytelling opportunities with B2B media to support transformation narrative.
  • Engage linear, streaming, finance, ad sales, local affiliate sales, distribution and partnerships to drive press engagement and coverage that informs and influences the market on Univision’s distinct value proposition.
  • Develop proactive and reactive messaging strategies that are clear and impactful specifically for trade media.
  • Develop trade communications calendar and cadence to support lines of business as well as flagship projects.
  • Provide communications support and execution related to “Go Dark” communications to trade and local media.
  • Prepare for potential scenarios and manage critical situations; serve as spokesperson.
  • Coordinate the Executive Visibility plan, develop messaging and briefing books, media train and prepare executives for participation at events, panels and interviews. Support the company’s communications at trade events such as CES, Advertising Week, UpFront, partners engagements, etc., while driving strategic media relations to amplify Univision’s transformation narrative.
  • Manage the Corporate Communications team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in public relations or other relevant business field
  • Experience working closely with sales, distribution, content and local affiliates
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence; effective at interacting and building relationships at all levels within a matrix organization
  • Relationships with trade and consumer media in both streaming and/or linear
  • Motivated self-starter with strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience leveraging social media platform to amplify and promote projects on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain focus and confidentiality

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish
