Team Profile:

The Credit Trading Systems Development team is focused on building and enhancing in house systems used by Morgan Stanley traders globally to make markets, serve clients and manage risk in corporate credit products. We operate in a fast paced, agile environment and rely on our teams to work closely with our trading partners and other internal technology teams to offer creative, innovative, class leading software solutions in order for the business to adapt to the ever changing environment, win market share and drive profits in this critical business area.

We are looking for a strong technologist with proven leadership skills to work with our trading desks to help define software solutions, hands on run projects, help drive systems transformation and contribute to long term systems and development strategy. You will be working on distributed, low latency trading platforms based on C# and HTML5 front ends and Java/Scala back ends. The market making user interfaces control all aspects of the system from algorithmic trading configuration to electronic feeds and risk views and require clear, intuitive design. Likewise, the systems have high update rates and require very powerful and optimised services to cope with these demands.

The systems rely on modern technologies and approaches such as reactive programming, cloud computing, microservices and distributed caching.


  • You will be responsible for leading development projects by driving the technical direction, guiding the solution and managing the delivery from requirements gathering and analysis all the way to implementation, deployment and subsequent support. This will also include implementing solutions where necessary.
  • You should be a pragmatic technologist who shows excellent problem solving skills with an ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • You will work closely with several global teams within the technology department as well as directly with the Corporate Credit business unit to translate business needs into technical projects.
  • You will be expected to take on management responsibility for developers and contractors as opportunities arise.


Required Skills:

  • Strong core programming skills in Java, Scala or C#
  • Understanding of service oriented, distributed, reactive and event driven architectures
  • Experience working and communicating with business stakeholders about technical projects.
  • Appreciation of cloud deployment, devops and continuous delivery
  • Proven track record of delivery, technical leadership and software project management
  • Self-driven problem solver with good attention to detail.
