POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The overall objectives of this position are to

Ensure proper worldwide income tax reporting framework for FBHS and its subsidiaries including partnering with IT and Accounting in systems implementation and in design of policies and procedures of books and records,

Ensure compliance with all US Federal, US International, and State & Local tax laws and reporting requirements and direct the US Federal & US International, and State & Local tax return filings,

Ensure worldwide compliance and quarterly and annual SEC reporting for all applicable GAAP, SEC and SOX requirements for ASC 740 tax accounting while minimizing the effective tax rate and income tax burden of the Company,

Maintain and manage all tax data for purposes of supporting all Federal, US International, and State & Local income tax audits and notices,

Manage tax assets and attributes including stock and asset basis, E&P, tax credits, net operating losses, etc., to ensure proper reporting and utilization,

Direct all tax reporting of transactions (e.g. acquisitions and divestitures)

Maintain all tax technology and tax applications including modeling tool for Income Tax function, including establishing and maintaining tax workpaper quality and record retention standards (paper and electronic), flowcharts and process maps, and

Provide leadership to the Tax Department and collaborative support to Sr. Director – Tax Planning & Audit Controversy and Sr. Director – Operating Taxes

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tax Reporting: Direct the Income Tax Reporting function of the company. Responsibilities include income tax accounting policy; quarterly and annual SEC filings and related income tax reporting; design and maintenance of income tax accounting processes; audits and reviews by PWC, Internal Audit, and SEC; and business advisory services with respect to all accounting for income taxes. Develop, train and coach members of the Team.

Tax Compliance: Direct and oversee timely and accurate reporting of US Federal, US International, and State & Local income tax return compliance including extensions, estimates and annual returns. Responsible for efficient and effective compliance with US Federal, US International, US State & Local income tax laws and requirements through resource utilization and streamlined processes. This includes coordinating to the extent necessary with the Director – State Tax and Director – International Tax on their respective areas, including but not limited to any recent tax law changes and any planning initiatives. Also, this may include managing an outsourcing engagement for various compliance functions. Oversee the integration of new legal entities, acquisitions and corporate transactions into tax filings and processes. Establish and monitor documentation and work paper requirements and ensure an adequate audit trail.

Tax Operating Model: Build and continuously improve the public company tax reporting framework for FBHS consisting of people, processes, data, and technology. Direct the implementation and maintenance of the income tax technology platform.

Tax Technology & Business Systems: Partner with the Business to ensure systems are being designed and implemented to capture data at the appropriate level of detail for tax compliance and planning process. Responsible for Income Tax data maintenance and accessibility for the Tax function.

Tax Audit: Review, track and respond to State Tax Notices, maintain US Federal, US International, and State & Local tax data, coordinate with and support Sr. Director – Tax Planning & Audit Controversy, Director – State Tax and Director – International Tax with regard to tax controversy.

Tax Data: Facilitate the development of processes to provide for the access and delivery of timely and accurate data for VP – Tax, Sr. Director -Tax Planning & Audit Controversy, and Sr. Director – Operating Tax including modeling of forecast and proposed transactions.

SOX Compliance: Ensure all tax process control documentations, tax policies and procedures, and disclosure controls are effective, maintained, and updated in accordance with all legal requirements including SOX 404 requirements.

Tax Planning & Business Advisory: Partnering with Sr. Director – Tax Planning & Audit Controversy, implement and report tax planning strategies to reduce tax expense and exposure including the management of tax assets an attributes.

Leadership: Develop, train and coach members of the Team to grow their tax and accounting skills as well as project management, communication and business advisory skills.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum requirements include Bachelors Degree in Accounting with CPA certificate or equivalent years experience with a JD or Masters of Tax preferred.

Experience: Extensive experience in work environment dealing with large corporate tax affairs which may be in industry, Big 4 accounting firm or similar surroundings (at least 15 years required, 20+ years preferred). Experience with accounting and tax software such as OneSource, HFM and Oracle. Experience managing people and demonstrated leadership experience required.
