This is a Supervisory Position

Functions Supervised: Special Credits Enforcement

Primary Functions: Responsible for assigned accounts requiring legal action.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison with attorneys hired by the credit union to file suits or otherwise protect the credit union’s interest.
  • Interact with bankruptcy trustees and debtor attorneys as necessary to optimize recovery of monies owed.
  • Ensure timely processing of small claims filings and timely completion of legal actions on assigned accounts.
  • Coordinate arrangements for payment of judgments and negotiate settlements with the concurrence of the Special Credits Recovery/Enforcement Manager.
  • Represent the credit union at court hearings and trials.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and laws affecting collections and bankruptcy.
  • Ensure timely reassignment of accounts at conclusion of legal actions.
  • Develop and train staff to understand and comply with all policies, laws, and procedures as they relate to collections.
  • Responsible for the review of Enforcement collection and associated work and for making recommendations regarding the need for adjustment in work routines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management.

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Four years experience in similar position.

Experience/Skills: Four years experience within the consumer collection field and two years supervisory experience with proven human relations skills and ability to motivate staff. Thorough knowledge of bankruptcy and other federal, state and local laws related to delinquency control. Requires experience in dealing with attorneys and filing small claims actions. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have proven ability to evaluate difficult situations and exercise good judgment. Must also have a strong personality to effectively handle adverse situations routinely.
