Supervises: Kitchen Personnel
FLAS Status: Full Time Salary – Exempt

SUMMARY:
Savor/ASM Global has an immediate opening for a Chef De Cuisine at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent. Chef De Cuisine is responsible for assisting in leadership and daily operation of the kitchen.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILIES:

  • Coordinating meal, food and service activities within the kitchen.
  • Review orders and assign tasks to kitchen personnel.
  • Oversee kitchen staff throughout the cooking process, portions, presentation, properly cooked and seasoned.
  • Collaborate with Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager on menus and operations.
  • Ability to source and order all ingredients while balancing ingredient quality and cost.
  • Maintains kitchen cleanliness, safety, and maintenance. Establish and communicate cleanliness guidelines and expectations to a diverse staff.
  • Ability to interface directly with our guests and clients to present a proactive, professional appearance.
  • Ability to handle guest complaints with professionalism and appropriate decisive action.
  • Ability to target ingredient sourcing and purchasing combined with budgeting and financial acumen.
  • Act as a liaison between the front of house staff and kitchen.
  • Ability to operate and position and all equipment within the kitchen.
  • Ability to communicate clear and decisive instructions to kitchen staff.
  • Ability to fill in during the absence of Executive Chef.
  • Scheduling of kitchen staff as dictated by event schedule and operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Daily lifting up to 50 lbs. Up to 5 minutes at a time. Daily carrying up to 40 lbs. up to 5 minutes at a time.
  • Constant standing, walking, stooping. Constant reaching, handling products.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

  • May require handling of chemicals for the purpose of cleaning and sanitation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Culinary Institute training or a related field is preferred. 3-5 years of Sous Chef experience in a Convention Hotel or Convention Center is preferred. Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and culinary operations is essential to the function of this position. A minimum of 3 years direct supervisory experience is also necessary.
